The time since appears to have been put to good use, with the new game featuring a cyberpunk aesthetic that retains the rough edges and moody spirit of the 1994 game with a 2020 twist. Development on System Shock went on hiatus in 2018 as the team refocused the scope of the project from a full reboot to a remake of the original title. System Shock is planned to launch in March on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and EGS.Nightdive's update of the game hasn't had the smoothest ride to digital store shelves. This narrative-driven space survival sim was a classic when it launched and it seems like it's about to capture some new fans next month. We highly suggest to try it for yourself, especially if you are a fan of its slightly more mainstream cousin, BioShock. The demo can last upwards of 30 minutes or longer, depending on your playstyle. Trying to make System Shock feel like a classic title with modern mechanics is a hard feat, but it seems like Nightdive has cracked the code.

The demo does a great job of nailing the modernized retro look that the developers were aiming for. Thankfully, it seems like all of those years of baking in the oven have paid off. The System Shock remake was crowdfunded via Kickstarter quite a few years back. There is a lot to see and a lot to do in this updated demo, and things are looking very good. In preparation, it seems like the studio has released an updated demo, showing fans a new introduction to the game and giving them a better idea of what to expect the final build to look like.
